The Art Initiative It does not do it by the book or the protocol; Davidoff Art Initiative is all about the feeling of family and passion
The Davidoff Art Initiative supports contemporary art and artists in the Caribbean, strengthens art organizations that work to promote Caribbean art, and fosters cultural engagement between the Caribbean and the rest of the world. It brings opportunity and visibility to the art and culture of the wider Caribbean region—including the Dominican Republic, where much of Davidoff’s production and many of the employees are based—and it extends the company’s long-standing commitment to artistry, craftsmanship, community, and quality.
The initiative launched in 2012 upon Davidoff’s inception as an Associate Partner of Art Basel. Since then, the initiative has worked diligently to connect the diverse landscape of the Caribbean and its cultural Diaspora, as well as promoting regional efforts and outstanding talent with the global community. The initiative’s centerpiece—the Davidoff Art Residency—offers residency opportunities for Caribbean artists in select leading programs worldwide, as well as welcoming international artists, curators, and writers for a yearly residency program and exchange in the Dominican Republic.
